Enrollment in the HSBC Mileage Programme used to be necessary for HSBC Revolution cardholders to convert reward points to KrisFlyer Miles.
While most banks charge a one-time fee per redemption, the HSBC Mileage Programme charges an annual fee of $43.20 (inclusive of GST).
Although this is more expensive, cardholders like you and I can convert points as often as we want within the one-year period.
The HSBC Reward Redemption system was updated in May 2024, and redemptions can only be made via the HSBC Singapore mobile app.
Redemptions via phone banking and online banking will cease.Total reward points across all HSBC credit cards will be pooled together. This won’t affect you if you have only one HSBC credit card.The expiration date for rewards points expiring on 31 May 2024 will be extended to 30 June 2024 to account for the system downtime.The annual fee for the mileage programme will cease.
What if you have already paid for the annual service like I did?
In response, HSBC will offer a full refund of the mileage programme’s annual fee, which is super nice.
If you paid the Mileage Programme annual fee before HSBC announced the reward system change, remember to check your HSBC credit card statement to ensure you received it.
There have been reports of people receiving their refunds in June 2024, although it could be relative to when you paid your fee.
For myself, payment was made in December 2023, and I received the funds at the end of July.
