SINGAPORE – Logistics technology company Ninja Van has settled the delayed salaries and social insurance payments owed to more than 100 workers at its subsidiary in Vietnam.

Two employees of ECRM Nobita in Vietnam told The Straits Times that they received the 1½ months of salary and social insurance payments they had been owed for work done in August and half of July.

One of them said the overdue payments were made close to two weeks after Ninja Van held a virtual meeting with all ECRM Nobita employees in Vietnam on Sept 10 to address the situation at the subsidiary unit. The subsidiary firm, which has three offices based in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Vinh city, develops software solutions in the field of customer relationship management for online businesses.

Some ECRM Nobita employees staged a protest on Sept 12 over the payments owed to them.

Singapore-headquartered Ninja Van told ST on Sept 19 that it was suspending ECRM Nobita’s operations as it worked to resolve issues over delayed salary and social insurance payments to employees there.

“Over the past week, we have expedited efforts to gather the necessary information and control over Nobita’s payroll systems and bank accounts,” said Ninja Van co-founder Tan Boxian the next day. “As of today, we have confirmed that the overdue salaries have been processed, and these will be remitted to ECRM Nobita employees’ bank accounts immediately.”

“We are now not only in a position to correct this, but also to ensure we will prevent further issues as we continue to review the overall situation with ECRM Nobita,” Mr Tan said.

He added that ECRM Nobita’s situation is separate from Ninja Van’s operations.

Ninja Van currently operates in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand.
