The closing date for the current issue of Singapore Savings Bonds (May 2024) is going to be on the 25 April 2024 at 9 p.m.

Seeing that we are only two days from the closing date, I thought it might be a timely read for some.

Although the returns for this particular issue isn’t particularly attractive compared to some the previous tranches, three percent guaranteed yield for ten years is nevertheless a safe place for semi-liquid emergency funds.

However, if you have limited funds to save or invest and want to use the Singapore Savings Bonds as your preferred instrument, you might want to hold your horses.

The reason being that the June 2024 issue of Singapore Savings Bonds is almost guaranteed to have better returns versus the May 2024 issue.

You can rely on tools such as Beansprout or I Love SSB if you prefer the latest up-to-date projections.

The golden rule is that an SSB issue’s return which shall always equal the ten-year reference yield if held to maturity.

If you are like me and think that agar-agar is good enough (since we are not at the end of the month yet), this chart below will suffice.

The lowest was 3.11% on the 1 of April 2024 (which is already higher than 3.06%) and it trended up-only.

If you have liquid funds, life is easy since you don’t have to do anything now.

Just apply for the June 2024 issue by the 28 May 2024 9 p.m. closing date.

Redeem the inferior issues next month and receive the proceeds by 3 June 2024 before the end of the day.
